After an AHI Hair Transplant procedure
Historically Hair Transplants
The Strip surgery, have been used as a hair transplant surgery in Ireland successfully to replace thinning hair, bearing in mind that this FUT strip method was developed some thirty years back.
For many years in Ireland this hair restoration method involved extraction a strip of skin from the back of the head 26cm x 3cm was the only method of follicle extraction. This method would require suturing of the back of the head in order to close the scalp.
As with everything in medicine, techniques evolve and we would now firmly say that this is clearly a “technique of the past”, very few hair loss clients would consider such an invasive method of treatment these days with the FUE (follicular unit extraction) method being the standard and most advanced obvious choice for the past fifteen years.
Nowadays Hair Transplants
As with everything in medicine, techniques move on and become more refined, as well as less invasive. The FUE method was successfully developed in the 90s by Australian and American physicians and is one of the best hair transplant methods in Ireland and Dublin.
Ailesbury has offered hair transplants for women and men with the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) method for many years but now provides the mechanised 0.7mm punch extraction method, which is not yet used by many other clinics internationally.
Traditional manual FUE requires 0.9mm – 1.2mm manual punch extraction which unfortunately leaves visible dots at the back of the head in the donor site. Here at Ailesbury, with the tiny 0.7mm mechanised extractor, the donor site really is left fully intact and as it appeared before, following healing of the extraction sites. This is an outstanding benefit to the patient as many unsightly dots at the back of the head are not what one wants from a hair restoration procedure.
Another unique aspect of the Ailesbury procedure is that we can extract up to 4500-5500 hair follicles in one procedure, depending on various factors. Density in the recipient site really is the key factor for achieving the high density results that all hair loss patients strive for.
